Distance Learning Hacks
Navigating distanced learning can be difficult, especially when you have multiple kiddos working online simultaneously. Parents and learning coaches are all learning this new and improved virtual online distance learning world together, from figuring out how to use multiple platforms to remembering different logins and passwords and everything in between- it can be a lot to handle.
This is what some parents have found helpful.
Have a designated learning space for your child (space with minimal distractions. If more than 1 kiddo is working in the same space, have each of them wear headphones or all of them but one, if you can)
.Have a go-to paper/document with all learning websites/passwords for easy access.
Have a posted/visual schedule of your child’s online learning schedule - easy access for both your kiddo and for you as a parent/or the learning coach.
Make sure your child has all the materials they need. If you can, try doing this the night before - it tends to be easier instead of getting things together the morning of.
Make sure devices are charged with access to a charger (with safety precautions).
Make sure your kiddos take breaks from the screen during appropriate break times (recess, snack time, lunch time).
Have parents/learning coaches watch the informational videos teachers have sent over BEFORE the school day starts so it’s easier to answer student questions in real-time during live classes or independent work.
Remind yourself and your kiddos - you’re doing the best you can! Sometimes things don’t go according to plan - and that’s okay!
What would you add to this list? What has worked for you?
